Dad and the boys!
Jonathan was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, November 10th, 1974. He was serving as Youth Pastor at his sending church, Dimond Blvd Baptist Church, in Anchorage, Alaska. Jonathan’s father was enlisted in the United States Air Force, and as a result, Jonathan lived in a wide variety of places, including time overseas in Germany. Both Jonathan’s Mother and Father were Christians and shared the gospel with both him, as well as his brothers during their childhood. His parents insisted that he be involved in church virtually anytime there was an opportunity, including events such as church camps and youth activities.
Jonathan went to public school in different locations across the country, and graduated from Oscoda Area High School, in Oscoda Michigan in 1993. He joined the Army in July of the same year and served for 2 ½ years until he was offered early discharge due to injury. He then attended for one semester, Word of Life Bible Institute, in Schroon Lake New York. He left Word of Life and received training as an Avionics Technician and worked for American International Airways, until he was downsized in 1998. Jonathan is married to Clarinda Lee of Mikado, Michigan. They were married on August 9th 1997. They have three sons, Jonathan Jr., Levi, and Daniel.
Some time later, Jonathan and Clarinda moved to Alaska, and began attending Dimond Blvd. Baptist Church, and it was during that time, that Jonathan was saved, following the testimonies of two teens in a special Sunday evening teen service, and was later baptized. He received his training at Spurgeon Baptist College (online), and later at Andersonville Theological Seminary where he received his degree in ministry. While also under close mentorship from the founding pastor of his church (a former BMM missionary) as well as the current pastor. A short time later (approximately two years), Jonathan and Clarinda began serving as youth leaders in the church, and Jonathan was later called to be first a part time Youth Director, then later as a full time vocational Pastor of Youth and Christian education, where they served for the past 7 years.
Jonathan and Clarinda began to believe God was calling them to missions, following a visit from a retiring missionary family. They continued pursuing God’s will and praying for His will in their lives. God used the visitation from a missionary couple presenting their ministry to Zambia, Africa, to confirm His call in their lives, and they, a short time later contacted Baptist Mid-Missions, to pursue God’s Call to Zambia Africa as well.
Jonathan often needed to work more than one job at a time, and as a result, has had a variety of work experience including aircraft maintenance, construction, remodeling, mechanics, school bus driving and more.
Ministry experience includes, multiple mission trips to small villages in Alaska, assisting in teaching hermeneutics classes, special music, song leading, and for one year was part of a radio program called “Consider This” which aired in Anchorage and other villages. His talents range from song leading, special music, discipling, and expository preaching.
